As an openly gay man, I am not just an ally — I am part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I understand firsthand what it means to fight for dignity, respect, and equal treatment. In Congress, I will be one of the strongest voices in the nation for LGBTQIA+ rights and protections.

The LGBTQIA+ community deserves to live free from discrimination, fear, and political attacks. No one should be denied healthcare, housing, employment, or safety simply because of who they are.

I will fight for expanded mental health resources, especially for transgender individuals, who face some of the highest rates of depression and suicide attempts due to harassment, discrimination, and lack of support. Studies show that 41% of transgender individuals report attempting suicide at some point in their lifetime. This is a public health crisis and must be addressed with compassion and real action.

I will also protect marriage equality because who someone loves and what happens in their own private life is not the government’s business.
